29 June 2023 – Parcent to Alcalali

 14 of us today, despite the forecast of high temperatures

This was our last Thursday walk before the summer break

It was nice to welcome Barry and Linda for a short visit

We had planned a short walk because of the heat

We would walk along the pipeline from Parcent

I was hoping that there would be some shade there

We would then turn around and walk back the same way

However it was not as bad as expected

When we reached the end of the pipeline I suggested going on to the Ermita

Everyone was in favour, and we had our snack break there

It was a good idea because there is much better shade there

We had a longer break because we were earlier than expected

We now had an exposed section back to Parcent

It was pretty hot, and no shade

But no one complained and we set a good pace

I am sure that everyone enjoyed the walk

And even more the cold drink in the Parcent cooperativa

26 June 2023 – Lliber River Walk

17 of us on today’s walk

We would normally cancel a walk if the forecast was 32c

However this was the last Monday walk before the summer break

It was also an easy low level walk

And I knew we could find shade along most of the walk

I was particularly worried about banana stop on the dry river

It is very exposed, but had some light shade

And during our break there was a light breeze

At least Ali looks pleased with the spot

This is about half way through the walk

And I did ask if anyone was struggling or wanted to turn back

No one did, so we completed the whole walk

Fortunately there is a lot of light shade during this part of the walk

And we had a water stop every half hour

It was good to have Terry walking today

He has missed a few weeks due to a knee injury

It was also nice to have Richard’s daughters walking with us

They are visiting from the UK, but seemed to manage very well

We were all very pleased to reach bar Varetes in Lliber square

A fitting end to a very enjoyable walking season

22 June 2023 – Parcent to Murla

What a great way to spend my 79^th birthday

11 of us for today’s walk

This included Barbara on her first walk with the group 

Should have been 12, but one did not wake up in time!

The plan was to take full advantage of any shade available

And to have a water stop every half hour

For the first hour it was very comfortable

But as we neared Murla the temperature rose

Fortunately there is a little shade

We paused to tell the story of the clock tower

 And the sad tale of the abandoned restaurant

But still reached our picnic site outside the church in Murla by 1030 as planned

Where fortunately there was plenty of shade

Sandra instructed Jan in the art of posing for a photo

And we were lucky to be able to look inside the church

Temperatures rose as we set off back to Parcent

But we managed to find good shade for our water stop

Thanks to David for taking the group photo with me in it

Thoughts of a cold drink kept us going on the last stretch

And the Parcent cooperativa did not disappoint.
