30 October 2023 – Granadella

This is the most spectacular coastal walk that we do

There were 12 of walking today

Hard to believe that we last did this walk in December 2021

Five of today’s group also walked on that one

The walk starts off with a gentle ramble towards the sea

After the mirador the track becomes much more difficult

First a poor track downhill

Then across broken ground

To the ridge

The track over the ridge is easier, but always very windy

Which makes it more difficult for anyone who does not like “exposure”

Keeping together as a group makes it easier for those worried about this section

And we all crossed the ridge without any difficulty

And soon reached the flat area at the end.

Where we had a ten minute break

And some an early “banana break”

Then downhill on a rocky track with dangerous loose stones

Not difficult but tiring as you have to be careful with every single step

And finally the destroyed Napoleonic fort

Where we had our official 15 minute banana break

Plenty of time to admire the spectacular sea views

The next part is particularly difficult, even with the help of metal hand holds

And chains over the more difficult sections

There is also a little scrambling

And finally a steep climb, even with the useful wooden hand rails

Which some of the group needed more than others

And finally the impressive Mirador

With our first view of Granadella bay

Where we had our long awaited picnic on the beach

The threatened rain arrived just as we reached the cars

Temperature – 18 to 24c

Time taken – 6 hours

Distance – 9 km

Total Ascent – 360 metres

26 October 2023 – Parcent to Murla

14 on today’s walk

The mornings have been getting cooler

But today was much hotter than usual at this time of year

It was a warm and humid 22c as Jan and I walked down to the Parcent car park

We started with a road walk up the hill

Then a nice gentle walk to the river

Then Lynn, Faezeh and Tim did a spot of “scrumping”

Faezeh being particularly pleased with her share

By now there was a gentle breeze and felt much cooler

Then on to Murla for our snack outside the church

A local offered to open the church for us to look around

A rare opportunity to see the lovely interior

Faster pace on the return as Ali and Faezeh had a medical appointment

But still time to enjoy the scenery

And a short water break

We did not feel the full effect of the high temperatures due to cloud

So it was a very pleasant walk back to Parcent

And we arrived at 1300, right on time

Pleased that the Cooperativa was open for our after walk drink

Which is always the highlight of our walk

Temperature – 22-28c

Time taken – 3 hours

Distance – 9 km
