28 September 2023 – Parcent to Alcalali

17 on today’s walk

Should have been 20

But two cancelled the day before

And one couldn’t find the car park

Not surprising as we have reverted to using the main Parcent car park

Despite my comprehensive instructions it is not easy to find the first time

This should have been our last summer walk

So we should have started at 1000 next week

But there are higher temperatures forecast for next Thursday

So everyone agreed we will keep the start time at 0900

One new member today, Simon from Denia

It was also nice to welcome back Julie and Don from the UK

And Caroline from Andorra

It was quite cool when we started

But felt more than the forecast high of 26c as we returned to Parcent

And it was 32c on the naya when we got home

Big disappointment to find the Cooperative closed for a week

But fortunately Siremar was open

They were very understanding when we had an accident and dropped and broke a glass of beer

Nice to see so many “old” faces walking with the group again

25 September 2023 – Jalon to Alcalali

 

16 on today’s walk

The mornings are getting cooler

It was quite chilly as we met at Jalon rastro

However it was not long before we started to warm up

This is a lovely time of year in the valley

With clear, blue skies and a gentle breeze

We made much better time than usual

And arrived at Alcalali mirador ahead of time

By now it was a getting quite warm

And very pleasant just looking at the lovely views

Particularly across the valley  to Parcent

This should have been our last summer walk

However the forecast for next  Monday is 29c

So I may do another valley walk

We will change our start time to 1000

Because it is now dark when we get up in the morning

And a later start will allow the temperatures to rise a little

I thought that we would arrive back in Jalon too early

But it took longer than expected

And we arrived back just before 1200

21 September 2023 – Alcalali to Parcent

There should have been 19 on today’s walk

But 8 cancelled during the week

Four were for medical reasons

Four quit the group without ever walking

This will explain why it is difficult to maintain numbers 12-16 on each walk

After 23 on Mondays walk, 11 today felt quite cozy

It was nice to see Lynn again, her first walk for some time

It was also nice to welcome Electra for her first walk with the group

The weather was more comfortable today

Temperatures about normal and low humidity

There was a really nice vibe today, as often happens with smaller groups

The pace must have been slower

Because it took us two hours to get to our banana stop

But we still had our regular half hour break

We still need our breaks even if the temperatures are slightly lower

It was obvious the walk was going to take longer than usual

But we still had a short water break at the Ermita

And we arrived back in Alcalali 20 minutes late

Despite this we spent longer than usual in the square, a record two hours

Lovely walk and great company
