There were 13 of us on today’s walk
This included two new members on their first walk with the group
Duncan and Marilyn live in the UK but have a holiday home in the valley
There should have been 15, but Paul and Natalie had to collect their daughter from the airport
As always it was lovely to meet up again after the long summer break
We don’t walk during July and August because it is too hot
Though we did have our midsummer meal in August
We had planned to walk from Parcent to Murla today
But I was worried that the normally dry river might be a problem after two days of heavy rain and changed the walk to Alcalali
However the river was low at Alcalali, so it would probably have been OK at Murla
The weather forecast for today was 21-28c during our walk
But it was very overcast when we left the house, and very humid
Fortunately it did not rain at all
But it was very humid, much worse than I anticipated
So we set a very slow pace and had lots of water stops
I think everyone found the walk more of a challenge than we expected
But everyone seemed to manage OK and the constant chatter was a good sign
The pace was much slower than usual, so I reduced the route from 9 to 8km
I don’t think anyone noticed
And certainly no one complained.
Temperature – 21 to 28c
Time taken – 3 hours
Distance – 8 km
