15 on today’s walk
23 signed up for the walk
5 cancelled for medical reasons (including Jan)
2 got lost on the way to Lleus
1 had visitors
There were 5 on the reserve list
But all of the cancellations were too late to invite them
This was the first full day walk since the summer break
And a few of the group were nervous about the climb at the start
Fortunately it was quite cool when we left Lleus
So we did not have to worry about the heat or sun
The climb at the start takes about an hour
And we took it slow and had regular water stops
So everyone reached the top without any problems
The next hour was a pleasant ramble with impressive views of Bernia
It was sunny and warm when we reached the gorge
So everyone wanted shade for our banana stop
And some decided to have their picnic there
The track through the gorge is overgrown at the best of times
But no problems finding it today
Though we did have to keep the group closed up to avoid anyone getting lost
I did have a problem finding the track between the gorge and Pinos
But we all arrived at the Ermita in time for our picnic break
The return journey is downhill all the way
Though the path can be very slippery with lots of small, loose rocks and stones
I had to wait a few times for the group to close up
But we all reached the bottom safely
And we even returned to the cars in five hours as planned
